Grete and the cuban pianist
(in development)

Grete Skarpeid, 59, is at a turning point in her life, when she newly divorced and goes to a jazz concert by the American jazz quartet "Don Byron Quartet" at the old cinema in Voss. After the concert, she happens to talk to the Cuban-American jazz star Aruán Ortiz.

«Grete and the Cuban Pianist» is a musical feelgood film about a  woman nearing retirement who dares to follow her dream. Who takes a chance even if it costs a lot both personally and practically.

It is also a film about musical encounters across nationality, gender and age. We follow Grete on the journey from a winter-beautiful Voss, via recording in the metropolis of New York, to exotic, warm and rhythmic Cuba.
